I've been trying to think of different things to do with Rileigh during the summer. While at the park the other day a nanny and I was talking and she was telling me about some of the FREE stuff or low cost stuff that they've been doing that her 2yr. old has really enjoyed. I was super excited to try some of them out! Sports Com has a couple programs for toddlers one of them is the Tumbleweeds class that takes place on Wed. this class is to help with basic tumbling techniques. Then Toddler time with Thomas on Friday's is to help with motor-skill development. The problem is on some of the classes you can only call that day to sign up, according to everyone I've talked to if you don't call when they open at 6am you don't get a spot in the class! I was so excited to take Rileigh today, I set the alarm clock at 6am to get up and call! I got us in!
I got there a few min. early, I was asking the other moms how many times they've been, etc. The one mom said this was her 2nd time, last week he enjoyed it but wanted to do his own thing at times so I was glad to hear that seeing how I wasn't sure what Rileigh was going to do!!
It started off they all got on tiny mats to stretch, so far she was doing good staying on her mat, watching all the other kids and teacher doing there stretches! Then they did some different things running, hopping, skipping, crawling like bears, etc..again she's still doing good and enjoying it. Then the teacher told all the kids to go sit down by the wall so she could put the obstacle course together....that's when Rileigh decided she was done with the program (LOL) she did NOT want to go sit down like EVERY other kid was!!! She wanted to help the teacher put it all out...after going round and round with her the teacher was finally ready for them to do the course. She said Rileigh could go first- thank god cause I know she wasn't going to stand in line for her turn!!!! They started off jumping on a trampoline, then did a somersault, through a tunnel, climb over a stick, through the tunnel again, step on these color stones, then walk across the balance beam, lay down and roll and jump up and hit this tower!!! It was very cute and she did great doing it! I think she was the only kid around her age that could do a somersault on her own!!! The teacher was very impressed!!!
Overall it was a great class and we had fun (minus the melt down). I asked Rileigh if she liked it and she said "YES", I asked if she would like to go back sometime and she said "YES".
We are going friday to Toddler time with Thomas. I'm super excited about this one cause everyone keeps going on and on about how good Thomas is with the kids. Hopefully he can keep my daughter in line..LOL!!!!! I'll let you know....
